CHAPTER 17

Getting control of my telepathic abilities was not a problem. It was one of the first skills I developed, so that I didn’t go crazy with all the voices trying to get inside my head. The only thing to fine tune was distance and that was really a piece of cake. I had never excelled in the pre-cog area and we were pretty sure that was going to stay the case. Some gifts you had more than others, some you didn’t. I already had a better smorgasbord of Powers than the average psychic witch. A witch was generally happy to just excel at one type of Power. I was a strong telepath, but also had telekinetic abilities and the Power of what witches referred to as Powers of fascination.

What wasn’t a piece of cake was getting a comfortable hold on my telekinetic abilities. These were the abilities that had earned the majority of my Barbs and I was still scared to let loose. When I let loose people tended to get hurt. I had mostly bottled up my telekinetic abilities over a year ago to prevent myself from another accident. The problem was the bottle still sometimes burst.

I suddenly found myself in an unnatural wind storm followed by a downpour that seemed to only rain on me. “Did you have to do that?” I asked Sadie. Sadie was an elemental witch, go figure.

“I wouldn’t if you would pay attention, dear” Sadie said. “Besides, if you were worried you were going to lose your temper while accessing your Powers, it would have just happened. But you didn’t. You can control it and your temper when you want to.” She laughed. “You look like a drowned rat.”

“Thanks” I said while ringing out my hair.

Sadie walked over and touched my face. “You really shouldn’t wear so much makeup. It’s dripping down your face. A lady should look as good in the rain as out of the rain.” She tsked, tsked, “You look like the character from that movie you use to watch over and over.”

“The Crow? I will take that as complement. Looking like Barbie just doesn’t suit me. Next time could you just wave your hand in front of my face or something?” I wrung out the front of my shirt and smiled. “Look, you got me ready for the wet T-shirt contest at the bar.” There wasn’t a contest at the bar, although I wouldn’t put it pass Jake if he thought he could make a buck from it.

“Oh dear, let me get you another top.” Sadie practically leaped out of her chair ready to head to the back door in distress over the state of my now prominent boobs.

I took my shirt off exposing my lacy black bra. “That’s okay I can just hang it up here to dry.” I smirked as I tossed it over her laundry line. I was pretty sure sudden rain storms wouldn’t hit me again anytime soon.

A flustered Sadie stopped in her tracks and said let me help with that.
